Project Affect rescheduled for Sept. 20

Due to the weather, the third annual Project Affect has been rescheduled for Thursday (Sept. 20).

The campus and community engagement fair, coordinated by the WKU ALIVE Center for Community Partnerships and the Institute for Citizenship & Social Responsibility, will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at WKU’s Centennial Mall. The event is designed to show students the ways they can serve their community by partnering with local organizations on and off campus.

Students will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with campus and community organization leaders about how they can get involved in various service opportunities. Several organizations are involved this year including WKU Leadership and Volunteerism, The Center for Courageous Kids, Kentuckians for the Commonwealth, WKU Habitat for Humanity, and Kentucky SAFE Foster Care Agency. Many of the groups will have hands-on projects at their tables to get the students engaged in the idea of service, and students will have the chance to ask questions specifically related to applying their particular interests and academic fields to specific service areas. The event also will feature a live musical performance by Lauren Cunningham and Michael Meece.

A complete list of the participants, as well as an itinerary for the activities of the day, can be found at the Project Affect website at http://www.wku.edu/alive/volunteerism/project_affect.php.
